![]() Good fighters? You betcha, it’s a bass isn’t it? This fish can make strong pulls, and great top water splashes. So defiantly a fish available to land locked fisherman. Years ago Accountant Mike and I would use a Row boat to catch keeper stripers in the salt ponds of Rhode Island. Stripers have been successfully introduced into lakes through the United States, and can be caught in tidal estuaries. The striped Bass, (some of you may know it as a rockfish) is my #1 draft pick. I’ve never had a flounder take much line. Is that the “best fish”? I’d still say no, du to the nature of the fish to give up when caught. I love a good flounder fillet… And they are attainable to many fisherman. Bluefish works well baked in the oven but is best cooked covered to insure that the flesh is infused with the cooking liquid and does not dry out. But how many of us have a boat capable of venturing out for days into the open ocean? Scratch that one off the list. You can’t beat a sushi grade fish like the bluefin tuna. Generally this is a fish that is released, (due to overfishing, high levels do mercury, etc) so wile a fun fight, not a great eater.īluefish are also know for their fighting vigor, but again, bad table fare. There are dark bloodlines in the fillets that should be completely removed. You obviously could name a sailfish, like the blue marlin. Bluefish that are less than 5 pounds are the best to eat. It has a delicate flavor but can be more fishy than other types of seafood. Are bluefish any good to eat Bluefish are an excellent source of selenium, niacin, vitamin B12, and omega-3s, and a good source of magnesium and potassium. First, it’s been overfished to the point of near extinction. Bluefish is best eaten as fresh as possible, as it tends to degrade over time and doesn’t keep or freeze well. If you asked me it would need to meet 3 criteria. Atlantic bluefin tuna lands on the fish you should never eat land for a few reasons.
